What is a Mini-Split Heat Pump System, and why would you use this heating and cooling option in New Hampshire?

#1 Energy Efficiency -

Mini Split Heat Pump Systems extract heat from the outside air, and this essential extracts free heat from the outside air (even in cold weather) and transfers it indoors to heat a space.

When heating is needed, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the outside air in the outdoor unit. This process of making heat is a by-product of the unit that compresses the air to increase its temperature.

Much like when you put your hand underneath your refrigerator, there is warm air that is coming out. This warm air is made as a by-product of the refrigerator cooling the air inside the fridge, and it creates all this heat in the process that is discharged into the air.

A Mini Split Heat Pump System is engineered to utilize this technology and release the heat very efficiently back into your indoor air using an evaporator coil.

And the most amazing thing is how, if you reverse this process, it creates cold air. So a Mini Split Heat Pump System can heat and give you air conditioning in the summer.

We just published a detailed article on the difference between heat pumps. Check it out here!

#2 Easy Installation -

The Mini Split Heat Pump System does NOT need any ductwork. We can avoid the complex and often costly expense of running ductwork because the units don't need an air duct.

A mini-split heat pump system is also called a ductless mini-split because it only uses very small refrigerant lines to send the air from the outside unit to the inside unit.

This solution is great for pre-existing buildings and spaces already designed and finished. Generally, the Mini Split Heat Pump System only needs a small hole to penetrate through the outside of the building and connect to a small indoor unit. Depending on the indoor unit design, it can be mounted on floors, ceilings, or walls.

This easy install is excellent as an addition to areas of the home that might not get warm or cool enough. Even if you have an existing heating/cooling system, you might have a garage or room somewhere in the house that needs a little more space to be at optimal air temperature.

#3 Free Rebates -

Ok, this might be the best of all because who doesn't want free money? If you live in New Hampshire or Massachusetts, you can qualify for the program with thousands in rebates. You also get up to a $2,000 tax credit from the IRS.

Most people qualify for some rebate, but go ahead and fill out this form, and we will let you know if you do!

We have a very detailed article on rebates, check it out here!

#4 Zoning the Heat and Cooling -

You can put multiple indoor units in specific places and set the units to customize the temperature in each area. The Mini Split Heat Pump System units are then linked to one outdoor unit.

The single outdoor unit is approximately (depending on brand) 1 foot by 3 feet by 3 feet.

The indoor units are pretty small and run about 1 foot by 3 feet by 8 inches.

Not all situations will be best suited for you, but the Mini Split Heat Pump System can often fix a troubled heating zone and be the most cost-effective solution for an addition to the garage.
